Former England youth star Tariq Lamptey joins Ghana training for first time

Former England youth international Tariq Lamptey has completed his nationality and is set to make his Ghana debut this month.

Lamptey, who played 20 times for England from U18 to U21, took part in his first Ghana training session on Monday in France.

The Brighton right-back appeared to be enjoying himself and adjusting quickly to his new surroundings.

Tariq had a good conversation with everyone and even shared jokes with some of the players.

The 21-year-old is already feeling at ease and looking forward to his first match.

He chose Ghana over England at the senior international level earlier this year.

Lamptey’s father, Ahmed Lamptey, was influential in his decision to play for Ghana, according to Ghana Football Association president Kurt Okraku.

The former Chelsea player is expected to make his international debut against Brazil on Friday, September 23.

After Brazil, Ghana will play another friendly in Spain against Nicaragua.

The Black Stars have qualified for the World Cup and see these friendlies as the perfect preparatory games to sharpen their methods and strengthen their chemistry ahead of tough group games against Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea.
