Former Ghana youth star Clifford Aboagye says he agreed to move to Mexico to build his career and make a living there.
The former Black Satellites captain moved to Mexico in 2017 after an almost four-year spell with Granada in Spain.
Before the 2013 U20 World Cup in Turkey, Aboagye had signed for Udinese but could not adapt to Italian football. However, he departed to join Granada.
During his four-year spell with Granada, the 28-year-old struggled to break into the senior team.
Explaining why he departed Spain to Mexico to Linus Siaw Nartey on YouTube, he said, “I know a lot of Ghanaians were disappointed but it was due to personal reasons”
“I had been in Spain for almost four years, I wasn’t getting the promotion as I expected but then I was running out of contract and looking at the offer I had, I did some research on Mexican football, their national team and the league and I realize it’s a league that I could build my career and go make a leaving out there” he added.
Since moving to Mexico, he has had spells with Atlas, Querétaro, Tijuana, and Puebla.
