Former parliamentary candidate for Sefwi Akontombra, Appiah-Kubi Baidoo, has officially resigned from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), citing long-standing feelings of unfair treatment from the party’s leadership.
In a letter addressed to the party’s regional and national chairman, Mr. Baidoo conveyed his profound disappointment regarding the treatment he and his family have received from the party.
He stated that his appeals for resolution to the party’s National Executive Committee have gone unanswered.
“The frustrations I have endured over the years, along with my family, have become unbearable, and all efforts to seek redress have been ignored,” Baidoo expressed in his resignation letter.
The District Chief Executive, who has run as the NPP’s candidate for the Sefwi Akontombra Constituency three times, thanked the party for the opportunities he has had during his political career.
Baidoo also reached out to his supporters and sympathisers, acknowledging that many may feel let down by his decision. He emphasised that this move was necessary given the circumstances.
“I sincerely apologise to all my cherished supporters and sympathisers for any inconvenience my decision might cause. It is a difficult but necessary step,” he said.
His resignation highlights ongoing concerns regarding internal strife and lingering issues within the party.
Following this internal strife, Dr. Amoako Baah, a political scientist and member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has revealed that Ghanaians should expect the formation of the New Patriotic Front (NPF), a new political entity expected to emerge from the NPP.
Speaking in an interview, Dr. Baah emphasised that the creation of this new party is crucial due to perceived failures within the current party leadership.
“We want to fix the party, but those involved in the wrongdoing are the ones in charge. Do you think they will willingly give you a chance to throw them out? No, they won’t leave the party for them and form a new one. The shortest way around this thing is to form a new party,” he disclosed.
