Four busted over plot to kill Gender Minister

Four armed men allegedly contracted to kill the Gender Minister, Cynthia Mamle Morrison, have been picked up by the police.

The four were arrested by the Swedru Divisional Patrol team on Saturday at 10:15pm based on intelligence gathered.

An aide to the Gender Minister, Chris Arthur is convinced this was a deliberate attempt to kill the sector Minister.

“We picked up intelligence a week ago and saw that this was going to happen. These men were actually hatching a plot to kill the Gender Minister,” he said on Joynews monitored by theghanareport.com.

The suspects were reportedly lodged at room 8 and 9 at the Elohim Hotel in Agona Swedru.

The police retrieved knives and cutlass from the rooms of two of the suspects.

Some cheques to the sum GHC5,000 each were also found on the other two suspects.

The four have been detained. But one is believed to have absconded before the police raided the hotel.

The Regional Police Commander has assured that investigations are still ongoing to ascertain the motive of the suspects.
