Fuel prices to rise by 5% from July 1 – COMAC

The Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC) has projected a rise in fuel prices at retail stations starting July 1, 2025, the first pricing window of the month.

According to COMAC, petrol is expected to go up by about 2%, diesel by 5%, and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) by just over 1%. This would mark the first fuel price increase since February 2025.

Speaking at a press briefing in Accra, COMAC Chief Executive, Dr. Riverson Oppong, revealed that these adjustments are expected regardless of the now-suspended implementation of the amended Energy Sector Levy.

“Even before the new levy comes into effect, our projections show that pump prices will likely rise, this is based on a thorough analysis, including the National Petroleum Authority’s price build-up data,” he said.

Dr. Oppong emphasized the need for a regulatory review of the petroleum downstream sector to ensure more cost-effective operations, warning that continued inefficiencies could further drive up prices in the near future.
