Full list: FDA approves 327 hand sanitizers for COVID-19 fight

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has approved 327 hand sanitizers to aid in the fight against the novel coronavirus in Ghana.

This comes when the call for hand sanitizers has become dire to the country’s fight against the deadly virus.

As part of measures to streamline the number of sanitizers on the market, the FDA has fast-tracked the registration of hand sanitizers to ensure its availability, safety and effectiveness.

The authority in a statement signed by its Chief Executive Officer, Delese A. A. Darko, noted that the market had been flooded with a lot of sanitizers and thus the need to ensure the sanitizers are all safe.

The authority has advised the general public to avoid patronising unregistered or sub-standard hand sanitizers.

The FDA has however, “warned that persons selling unregistered hand sanitizers to desist from such practices or have themselves to blame if they were caught.”

“It is important to note that it is a criminal offence to offer for sale unregistered or substandard hand sanitizers to consumers,” the authority stated.

The authority has published a list of approved registered gloves and face masks on its website.
