GES issues public alert over fake job offers

The Ghana Education Service (GES) is warning the public to be on high alert for fake job advertisements and forged appointment letters spreading on social media.

These scams falsely claim to offer recruitment into the Service.

In a public notice released on Monday, GES said it has identified multiple fraudulent messages targeting job seekers with the promise of immediate employment.

Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations at GES, cautioned that, “These fake adverts and letters are designed to deceive and take advantage of unsuspecting individuals hoping to join the Service”.

While the Minister for Education has announced plans to recruit 50,000 teachers and 10,000 non-teaching staff, GES clarified that the official recruitment process has not yet started.

The public will be informed through trustworthy platforms once the process begins.

GES made it clear that all recruitment procedures will be free of charge and that applicants should not pay anyone at any point during the process.

Any demand for money in exchange for a job is a red flag and should be treated as a scam.

Citizens are urged to rely only on GES’s official website, national newspapers, and other credible media sources for updates. GES is also encouraging individuals to report any suspicious recruitment activity to the nearest police station.

The Service reaffirmed its dedication to transparency and fairness and urged the public to avoid falling victim to fraud.
