GES reschedules reopening date for SHS 3 students
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has postponed the reopening of school for SHS 3 students to May 5, 2021.
According to the service, the decision is in consideration of a proposal from the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS)
“Management of the Ghana Education Service has considered a proposal from CHASS and has therefore revised the academic calendar as follows; 1. Reopening for Form 3 students has been rescheduled for 5th May 2021. This applies to all Form 3 students (single track and double track schools,)” said a statement from the service.
The statement comes after students reported to school in time for the original reopening date, Wednesday, April 7, 20,21.
“This applies to all Form 3 students (single track and double track schools). Further details will be announced. All other arrangements on the calendar remain unchanged” the statement read.
Last month, GES postponed the reopening for SHS freshers to March 18 through to March 21.
Anthony Boateng, the Deputy Director-General, in a press release said the action is to give students who have had issues with self-placement time to complete the process.
Also, he encouraged others who have not completed their school’s admission process to use the extension to complete the process.
The Service added that the rescheduling will also help parents have adequate time to prepare their kids for school as well as give schools additional time needed to prepare to welcome them.
GES has also urged parents to ensure that their children leave home with adequate nose masks to protect themselves amid Covid-19, while management of schools has also been tasked to ensure strict adherence to Covid-19 protocols.
