The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced the reinstatement of Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) in all pre-tertiary schools across the country.
This initiative comes in direct response to a directive from President John Dramani Mahama, aimed at increasing stakeholder engagement within the education sector of Ghana.
In a press release dated Thursday, July 17, GES highlighted the importance of this decision in fostering better cooperation among parents, teachers, and communities in the pursuit of quality education for Ghanaian students.
All Heads of Public Senior High, Technical, and STEM schools are now mandated to take immediate action to implement the reinstatement of PTAs.
“The move is aimed at strengthening the collaboration and involvement of parents, communities, and teachers in the delivery of quality education to Ghanaian learners,” the statement read.
Additional guidelines detailing the structure, roles, and financial accountability of PTAs will be made available in the coming weeks, aimed at ensuring transparency, consistency, and efficiency in their operations across the nation.
GES is encouraging all parties involved, including parents and teachers, to fully support this renewed policy to ensure its smooth and effective implementation.
