GFA begins construction of two Natural Grass pitches at Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has commenced the construction of two natural grass pitches at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence (GSCE) in Prampram.

This latest development, supported by FIFA Forward funds, represents a significant step in the GFA’s ongoing mission to elevate football infrastructure and position GSCE as a premier destination for player development and elite training in Ghana and beyond.

Once completed, the new pitches will bring the total number of natural grass surfaces at the centre to three, complementing the existing two AstroTurf pitches—one of which is equipped with floodlights. This expansion will greatly enhance the GSCE’s training capacity and overall functionality, providing a versatile and professional environment for national teams, local clubs, and regional football programs.

The construction of these pitches is part of the GFA’s broader infrastructure agenda under the leadership of President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku. His administration has made substantial progress in modernizing the GSCE, including the installation of floodlights on the AstroTurf, the construction of two advanced pitches, the procurement of vehicles for Division One League and Regional Football Associations, and plans to establish a 40-bed accommodation facility at the centre.

Built to international standards, the new natural pitches will provide top-quality playing surfaces suitable for both domestic and international use. This aligns with the GFA’s strategic vision of transforming GSCE into a hub of excellence for football training, competitions, and talent development in West Africa.

The ongoing improvements at GSCE are made possible through the FIFA Forward Programme, which offers targeted financial support to Member Associations for sustainable football development. The collaboration between FIFA and the GFA continues to be instrumental in strengthening the sport’s foundation and building a robust infrastructure pipeline in Ghana.

As the GSCE evolves into a world-class technical centre, the GFA reaffirms its commitment to fostering growth, nurturing talent, and raising the standards of football across all levels of the game in the country.
