Ghana Weightlifting Postpones Elections Indefinitely
The Ghana Weightlifting Federation (GWF) has postponed its upcoming Elective Congress, originally scheduled for Friday, April 25, 2025, until further notice.
The announcement was made in an official statement signed by the Federation’s Secretary-General, Benjamin Addy, on Thursday, April 24.
According to the statement, the decision was taken following growing concerns over the integrity of the delegates’ list, with several stakeholders questioning the transparency of the electoral process.
In response, the GWF Elections Committee is now working closely with the National Sports Authority (NSA) to verify and finalize the list of eligible delegates.
In addition, the President of the Weightlifting Federation of Africa (WFA), Mr. Khaled Mehalhel, has expressed interest in sending an observer to oversee the elections. The GWF has welcomed this move, describing it as essential to ensuring credibility and transparency.
The Federation has assured members that a new date will be announced once all outstanding issues have been addressed and proper coordination has been completed.
