Ghanaian Singer Wins 2023 Australian Capital Territory Young Australian of the Year Award

Australian-Ghanaian singer Kofi Owusu-Ansah, known as Genesis Owusu, has emerged winner of the 2023 Australian Capital Territory Young Australian of the Year Award.

The poet, songwriter and rapper contested with seven people and was able to sail through to emerge as the winner.

The Ghanaian-Australian uses his music to highlight issues concerning racism and depression in various countries.

Born in Ghana in 1998, his family relocated to Canberra in Australia when he was very young, and that was where his music career started.

The Australian of the Year Awards celebrates the achievements and contributions of people who go above and beyond for their communities.

The Australian High Commission Embassy in Ghana congratulated the young talented musician for winning the award.
