Ghana’s Movie Industry “Wasted My Youthful” Days- Gloria Sarfo
Ghanaian actress, Gloria Sarfo, has disclosed that the Ghana Movie Industry wasted much of her youthful days as she believes she was endowed with acting talent but couldn’t get the opportunity to express it that much at the beginning of her career.
Gloria Sarfo became famous when she starred in the local drama series ‘Efiewura’.
According to her, she had a lot to put into the acting profession but there was no chance for her.
“I had a lot in me, you could feel that I had a lot in me, and I wish I did more.”
“The movie industry wasted my youth,” she noted in an interview monitored by The Ghana Report on Asaase Radio.
“I sometimes went for auditions at Afrikiko at 7 am and left there at 7 pm, and by the time you realized, the movie will be airing on TV, you would still not have a role yet, and this was continuous,” she recalled.
She, however, blamed Ghanaian movie producers and directors for the ineffectiveness of the industry.
“And most of the producers and directors, all they do is see a beautiful lady on the streets, and just give them roles, with no movie experiences, or passion to act.
“And I can tell you this, most of the big actresses you see, that was how they got to fame, and I don’t want to mention any names.
“If I decide to share my experiences in this industry, it might just deter some of the upcoming actors and actresses, and I don’t want to be the one to make someone lose interest in acting,“ Sarfo said.
