Some aggrieved customers of Utrak Savings and Loans at the Kasoa branch besieged the office complex on Wednesday morning, demanding their investments.
According to the angry customers, mostly traders, the financial institution has remained closed for the past two months.
Their simple request is to get their locked-up cash to cushion them through challenging economic times.
“My money with the financial institution is GH₵16, 000.00. My daughter’s own, too, is GH₵3,000. So in all, we’re looking at over GH₵20,000.00. I am taking my money, they should give me my money or else I will look for any means to get my money.
“My child has completed school, and I was going to use the money to pay school fees, but now the time has passed. They should give me my money. I am a single parent, and I have four children. I have been selling someone else bread to make some money for my children.
“I came to save my money with them, but they didn’t say anything to me and just left. They should give me my money,” the mother of four said worriedly.
Another client of the savings and loans company, a trader who sells a beverage made of millet and pasteurized milk, popularly known as ‘Brukina’, said she has GH₵6,000 saved with the financial institution.
She pleaded with them to return her money, adding, “I suffered before getting that money”.
Another angry trader shouted, “They will all go to their grave if they don’t give us our money”.
Efforts by theghanareport.com to get officials from Utrak to respond to the claims have proved futile.
