The government has announced plans to increase the daily school feeding allocation per child from GHs1.50 to GHs2.00.
Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson revealed this during an X-Space conversation with the youth over the weekend concerning the upcoming budget statement.
According to him, the increment is among several interventions expected during his first budget presentation in Parliament on Tuesday, March 11.
He added that the current school feeding allocation was nothing to write home about.
“Currently, the government of Ghana pays GH 1.50 per child. Today, unfortunately, we will agree that this amount is too small, and it can’t even buy one egg,” he insisted.
“I think I can boldly say that we intend to increase that to a minimum of two cedis per child per day,” he noted.

Meanwhile, the finance minister has also assured Ghanaians that the 2025 budget and policy statement will restore stability to Ghana’s struggling economy.
“Let’s not deceive ourselves; Ghana is not out of the woods yet. Our economy is still in distress, and our top priority must be restoring the stability we deserve,” he said on the social media conversation.
