Grateful for the opportunity to represent Ghana- Boye-Hlorkah

Black Queens forward Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah says she is grateful for the opportunity to represent Ghana and is hoping the team does the country proud at the Women’s AFCON.

29-year-old Boye-Hlorkah represented England at the Under 19 and Under 23 level before switching to represent Ghana and made her debut in a friendly tie against Senegal.

This year’s Women’s AFCON is scheduled to take place in Morocco from July 5 to July 26, with 12 nations set to compete; South Africa are the defending champion.

Ghana has qualified to compete in the tournament and has been drawn in Group C with South Africa, Mali and Tanzania; the top two ranked nations qualify automatically to the next round.

Speaking from the Black Queens’ base in Morocco, Boye-Hlorkah, who recently helped London City Lionesses qualify to the Women’s Super League, stated,

“It’s a big achievement to be going to a major competition especially representing Ghana…it’s amazing. I’m lost for words to be honest, I’m just grateful for the opportunity and hopefully I can show that I am wearing the shirt with pride and we do the country proud.”
