GTA to create Ghana’s first amusement park in Cape Coast
Maame Efua Houadjeto, the CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), has revealed plans to construct the country’s first amusement park in Cape Coast.
During the 2025 Ghana-China Business Summit, which took place on June 23, 2025, she opened up on new tourist initiatives aimed at making Ghana one of the top travel destinations on the African continent.
The amusement park would be the first of its kind in Ghana, and it is anticipated to be established in the Central Region.
“We want to create the first Amusement park in Ghana, and we are looking at Cape Coast. We are looking to create the very first state-of-the-art Amusement Park to add to our tourism destination,” she said.
Maame Efua Houadjeto also urged investors to fund the construction of eco-friendly hotels at tourist destinations.
“We also have the Kakum National Park, we have forest conservation going on there, and so I would like people to support us when it comes to building some eco-lodges in that space,” she said.
She explained that discussions have commenced with some potential investors who have shown interest in supporting these eco-tourism projects.
“I am already talking to a few people who have shown interest, and putting together some eco-lodges in these places. We are looking at eco-lodges at Mole National Park, eco-lodges at the Kakum National Park,” she stated.
She also said that plans are underway to construct additional event centres in Accra and the Central Region in an attempt to draw more events as part of the efforts to improve the infrastructure for tourism.
“We are also looking at expanding the space when it comes to event centres, we are looking at putting one together in the Central Region and also putting one in Accra,” she added.
