Highlife musician, Dada KD passes on

Renowned Highlife musician, Nana Kwaku Duah, popularly known as Dada KD, is reported dead.

He passed away on Friday, May 16, 2025, at the age of 44.

The cause of his death is not yet officially confirmed, but reports suggest a brief illness before his passing in the United States.

Fellow highlife musician Dada Hafco confirmed the news, saying that even though he didn’t have details of his death, he could confirm that his friend and colleague had died.

“If you ask me to confirm myself, I can’t because I’m not around where the incident happened, but somebody called to tell me, and that is a very credible source,” he said.

His legacy as a true icon in Ghanaian music continues to resonate, and fans and industry colleagues have begun paying tribute to the celebrated musician on social media.

Gospel singer, Empress Gifty wrote, “Dada KD”.

In the words of gospel singer Broda Sammy, “Rest in peace, champion musician Dada Kd”.

Dada Hafco also posted, “KD? Chaleee Ei”.

The death of Dada KD is coming at a time when he has been billed together with other artistes such as Obrafour, Slim Buster, Kojo Blakk for show in London on May 25.

Dada KD was known for his soulful love songs such as Tekyere Ma, Ene Menye, Wosuro a Wondi, Honey Love, among others.

His songs earned him multiple accolades, including the Best Male Vocal Artist award at the 2004 Ghana Music Awards UK.
