House help found mutilated in businessman’s home
A community in East Legon has been left in shock after the gruesome murder of a 21-year-old house help identified as Abena.
The young woman, who travelled from Nkawkaw to Accra in hopes of working to support her sick mother, is said to have been killed by her employer, a 49-year-old businessman.
Reports suggest that Abena had only been working for three months before the tragedy occurred. Her body was discovered with parts, including her breasts, fingers, toes, and private organs, missing.
This has led to widespread suspicion that the murder may be connected to ritual practices.
The businessman, whose name has been withheld, reportedly told his household he was leaving for a business trip.
A week after his departure, residents in the area began to notice a foul stench coming from the house. Concerned neighbours alerted the police, who started an investigation.
The stench led officers to a guest room in the four-bedroom house, where Abena’s body was found wrapped in a large black polythene bag.
The businessman has since not returned, further fuelling suspicion of his involvement.
The discovery has unsettled the East Legon community, with many calling on the police to pursue the matter thoroughly and bring those responsible to justice.
Residents say they want the truth uncovered and hope the tragedy will not be swept under the rug because of the businessman’s social standing.
