Liverpool Football Club have announced the signing of French striker Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt on a six-year deal for a reported fee of 69 million pounds that could rise to 79 million pounds should he meet certain clauses in the contract.
The 23 year old French player is one of the highly rated young players in the world after starring for Frankfurt in the German Bundesliga.
Ekitike is the latest signing for the Reds this offseason after acquiring the services of wingbacks Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez and German midfielder Florian Wirtz with the cumulative cost inching close to 300 million pounds.
Having started his professional career with French side Reims, Ekitike spent two seasons on the books of giants Paris Saint-Germain before leaving to join Frankfurt.

The 2024-2025 season was Ekitike’s coming-out party as the 6-foot-3-inch player who is of Cameroonian descent, bagged 22 goals and 12 assists in 48 games in all competitions.

He is expected to battle Uruguay striker Darwin Nunez for the starting position through the middle of Liverpool’s attack. At the time of writing, Ekitike had yet to get a jersey number at Liverpool; he wore the jersey number 11 at Frankfurt, but Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah wears the jersey number.
