I cried after my first performance at KNUST, says Gyakie

Ghanaian singer Gyakie has revealed that her first-ever stage performance ended in tears, describing it as one of the most difficult moments of her career.

Reflecting on her early days during a recent interview, the “Forever” hitmaker said her debut performance at the Republic Hall SRC Week at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) left her overwhelmed and emotional.

According to her, technical challenges on stage created an uncomfortable atmosphere.

“I was very scared during my first stage performance. I remember during the Republic Hall SRC Week, I went to perform and the speakers went off. I didn’t know what to do, and while some of the fans were hooting, others tried to cheer me on.”

Despite staying on stage until the end of her set, the experience took a toll on her confidence.

“When I got backstage, I cried because I regretted going there,” she said.

The singer, however, used the setback as motivation to build her craft, eventually rising to become one of Ghana’s leading musical talents on the international stage.
