I used to sell cassettes for Osei Kwame Despite while in secondary school – KOD
Director of Diaspora Affairs at the Presidency, Kofi Okyere Darko, popularly known as KOD, has disclosed that he once worked for Ghanaian business mogul Osei Kwame Despite by selling music CDs and cassettes.
Speaking to blogger Ghhyper at the grand opening of Osei Kwame Despite’s auto museum in East Legon on June 1, 2025, KOD said he had been doing this during his teenage years while he was in secondary school.
KOD explained that his long-standing relationship with Osei Kwame Despite began during these years while he worked for him.
He noted that this experience played a role in shaping his journey into the music and entertainment industry.
“When I was a teenager, I used to sell cassettes and I worked from Lumba’s shop, and I worked for Despite. That was my secondary school job. My introduction to the music industry and everything, this is part of the story,” KOD said.
He also mentioned that he was one of the early voices expected to join Peace FM when the station was being set up, but due to his existing role at another radio station, he couldn’t take up the opportunity.
“When Peace FM was being established, I was one of the quiet voices that was going to start, but I was working at Radio Gold, so I couldn’t show my face,” he added.
