I was physically abused in my marriage – Gospel musician reveals

Gospel musician, Diana Hopeson has revealed that her late ex-husband, Rev. Samuel Akiwumi, was physically abusing her.

According to the former president of the Musician Union of Ghana, the late Reverend Minister had bipolar disorders which led to an abusive marriage.

“I met my late ex-husband when I was 20-years-old, we got married after a year and before I turned 28-years-old, I was divorced with a son.” She told Atinka FM.

Stressing the need for young people to be wholly prepared for marriage before entering into one, the musician shared her experience.

“I made a mistake because there were a lot of these, I did not know about my would-be husband…we did not have a place to live after our marriage so on the last day of our honeymoon, a lady we often prayed with came to visit us at the Assemblies of God guest house where we had our honeymoon”

“My husband then confided in her and she took us to her house as a newly wed couple” she added.

She said she went ahead with the marriage even though her mother was not in support of it because they were two young people in love with the gospel.
