Dancehall artist, Vera Hamena Kpedo, popularly known in showbiz cycle as Mzvee has revealed, it took her a lot of courage to speak her truth about depression.

The artist who has been out of the music scene for over a year came back earlier this year to reveal, she was in a dark place and had begun a self-finding journey.

“2019 was more of a self-finding, rejuvenation, positive thinking and self-actualization year for me because for about two years, 2017,2018 I was super depressed and that affected my work and people I worked with”

I was depressed – MzVee reveals why she put her music career on hold.

“When my whole depression thing happened, I did unfollow people…I just wanted time away. I was lashing out in ways I didn’t even understand…I pulled away from everyone…I coiled up in my shell” she said

Explaining how long it took her to come out, the singer in an interview monitored by theghanareport.com said, “I was scared about coming out with my depression, I asked myself, what if they (Ghanaians) laugh or they think I am making up, I just thought of all the negative things Ghanaians will say”

Ghanaians, according to her, are usually negative and quick to brush off issues that affect people in the limelight.

“We (Ghanaians) are usually very negative but that should not stop you from telling your truth, there are people will definitely understand this” she noted.

The music diva is back to her usual self and has released a new single titled “Sheriff.”
