I will be disappointed if Mahama doesn’t take action on ORAL Report – Domelevo
Former Auditor General and member of the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) Committee, Daniel Domelevo, is optimistic about the government’s corruption fight.
On Monday, February 10, the ORAL Committee submitted its report to President Mahama, revealing 2,417 complaints of suspected corruption.
These complaints, gathered from the public through a nationwide call for reporting corruption, were officially handed over to the President at the Jubilee House.
This marks a crucial moment in Ghana’s ongoing battle against corruption.
Speaking in an interview after the presentation, Mr. Domelevo emphasised the urgency of the situation, stressing that Ghanaians are deeply troubled by the widespread corruption that continues to hinder the country’s development.
He pointed out that the public’s concerns are growing, and there is a widespread expectation for the President to take immediate and concrete action in response to the findings of the report.
Domelevo warned that if President Mahama does not move forward with meaningful investigations into the complaints and take steps to address the entrenched corruption within government institutions, it will be a major disappointment to Ghanaians.
Citizens, he noted, have long been calling for transparency, accountability, and strong leadership to combat corruption, and the failure to act would betray those expectations.
The ORAL Committee’s report presents a vital opportunity for the government to show its commitment to addressing corruption and restoring the trust of the public.
