The Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has dismissed reports that he will go independent in the December 7 elections.

He also denied rumors of his resignation from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Speaking during his 64th birthday celebration on Sunday, June 16, Agyapong emphasized his commitment to the party’s unity.

The event was attended by friends, loved ones, and NPP National Chairman Stephen Ayesu Ntim.

Mr Agyapong stated that he remains a loyal member of the NPP and has no intentions of running independently.

He acknowledged past issues during the primaries but called for unity within the party, urging his supporters to back Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the upcoming elections.

He revealed that several individuals had encouraged him to pursue an independent candidacy, but he believes such a decision would be unwise.

Mr Agyapong stressed the need for a united front to secure victory in the 2024 elections.

This move is expected to ease tensions within the NPP, as Agyapong is seen as a significant contender.
