“Integrity, Credibility, Selflessness, and Records must guide GOC elections” – Ben Nunoo Mensah
Former President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), Ben Nunoo Mensah, has urged delegates participating in the upcoming GOC elections to vote based on key values such as integrity, credibility, selflessness, and proven achievements.
Speaking ahead of the elections scheduled for Saturday, April 26, Nunoo Mensah emphasised that the selection of new executives should not be based on popularity or personal affiliations, but on the competence and character of the individuals.
“I think that elections to these positions must be based on integrity, credibility, selflessness, and the records and achievements of these individuals
He also highlighted the importance of preserving the GOC’s reputation, which he believes has grown significantly in respect and stature.
We need to check their backgrounds very well to see what they have done; because the GOC brand now has a certain level of respect and a good name. And I think we need to try and keep that respect and good name at all times
Nunoo Mensah stressed that the elections go beyond just the presidency and affect the entire structure of national sports federations, which play critical roles in shaping Ghana’s sporting future.
His remarks come at a pivotal time as the GOC prepares to usher in a new leadership team to steer the next chapter of sports development in Ghana.
