Source The Ghana Report

The Ministry of the Interior has renewed the curfew hours for Walewale and surrounding communities from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am effective February 22, 2025.

According to the ministry, this is based on advice from the North East Regional Security Council.

The curfew follows a suspected gun attack by unknown assailants along the Walewale-Bolgatanga Highway, which resulted in the killing of about seven people and the burning of 2 vehicles.

Additionally, a total ban on the possession of arms, ammunition, and offensive weapons has been declared at Walewale and its environs.

Meanwhile, the curfew hours imposed on the area from February 15 were resisted by residents of the area, citing military brutalities, among others.
