Kente Made Me ‘A Queen’ At NAACP Awards – Hollywood Actress Sheryl Lee Ralph
Emmy Award-winning actress Sherly Lee Ralph has praised Ghana’s Kente fabric which made her a standout guest at the 2023 NAACP awards.
The beautiful Kente she wore on the day added a touch of glamour and glitz as she caught the attention of nearly everyone who attended the event.
The American actress was fascinated by similar Kente outfits and wanted to wear one to the event.
Taking to her social media pages, the Emmy Award-winning actress said the designer spent thousands of hours constructing the gown of beaded Kente cloth for her.
The outfit made her feel on top of the world when she appeared in the beautiful dress at the event.
” That day, I felt like a queen, in fact, I couldn’t believe that was me because I was looking like Cinderella,” Sherly Lee Ralph revealed in an interview monitored by The Ghana Report on Joy News.
“Oh…Yh, People were like is that Sherly Lee Ralph?… and I said Yh…Yh… that’s me”.
“I really felt so happy on that day. I really love anything about Ghanaians”, she added.
The gown was made from a bright orange kente print with ruffle sleeves, a bead-encrusted bodice and a Kente print skirt with added brown detailing at the train and a mermaid-style silhouette.
She was the toast of the town for a long time after the event as she topped social media trends for several days.
The actress Sherly Lee Ralph is currently in Ghana for relaxation. In an Instagram post, she wrote, “Oh #Ghana how much I love you! ❤️💛💚🇬🇭”.
