Kofi Adams vows to ensure serious investigation into Nana Pooley’s murder
Sports Minister-designate Kofi Adams has assured that the murder of Asante Kotoko supporter Francis Yaw Frimpong, popularly known as Nana Pooley, will be taken very seriously by the police.
The fan tragically lost his life during a Ghana Premier League match between Nsoatreman FC and Kotoko at Nana Konamansah Park in Nsoatre.
Following the violent incident that led to Pooley’s untimely death after he was stabbed during a brawl between supporters of the two clubs, Kofi Adams expressed his commitment to ensuring that those responsible for the crime face the full weight of the law.
“This is murder [Nana Pooley’s death]. The Police will initiate criminal investigations and it will be taken seriously,” He said in an interview with Sporty FM,
The murder has sparked outrage across the nation, leading to widespread calls for justice and improved safety measures in stadiums.
In response, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has suspended the league and scheduled an emergency meeting with club leadership and supporters’ groups.
The tragic incident has intensified calls for greater government intervention in Ghanaian football. Former GHALCA Chairman Cudjoe Fianoo has urged the government to address the violence affecting the sport actively.
The death of Pooley, a beloved Kotoko fan, has devastated his family, with his wife, Yaa Gifty, expressing disbelief and sorrow over their tragic loss.
