Kotoko CEO admits they rushed in appointing Seydou Zerbo as head coach

Nana Yaw Amponsah, the Chief Executive Officer of the Asante Kotoko has admitted that they rushed in appointing Seydou Zerbo as the head coach of the club.

After Prosper Narteh Ogum left the club prior to the start of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League season, the management of the Porcupine Warriors appointed the Burkinabe as the new head coach for the side on a two-year deal.

However, Zerbo was sacked after losing 2-0 to Medeama SC at the Baba Yara Stadium.

And according to the CEO of the club, they did not have time to assess who replaces Prosper Narteh Ogum.

“We rushed in appointing Seydou Zerbo. I followed him when he eliminated Ghana from the CHAN qualifiers,” Nana Yaw Amponsah told Wontumi Radio.

“When he came he told us that the team is not there yet but we supported him but it got to a point that we must let him go due to the results and we should not also forget that he lost his son at a point,” he added.

Abdul Gazale has been named as the interim coach of the club following the dismissal of the club.
