In a post-game interview, Bashir Hayford was adamant about his team’s title winning chances despite being counted out as a title contender.
“People counted us out of the journey to the top because we slipped a little; with this win and Kotoko’s defeat, it means we have closed the gap. What it means to me is that we are closing the gap at the top…so it means a lot to me” Hayford said.

Lions’ 1-0 win over Medeama moves the club to fourth place with 44 points; Kotoko rank third with 47 points after losing 3-0 to Accra Lions.

League leaders Bibiani Gold Stars lead the standings with 50 points after bagging a 2-0 win over Bechem United in Bechem.
