President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has extended warm greetings to all Muslims as the world celebrates Eid Ul-Adha today.

According to him the celebration of the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim should impact Ghanaians to continue to live in peace and unity.

“Let us, on this day, make peace with ourselves and our fellow beings, and hold fast to the rope that Allah has united us with the, the rope of Ghana. Only in doing so shall we achieve our aim of making Ghana great and strong,” the president said.

Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia also urged the citizenry to always remember to be grateful for the wonderful things Allah has blessed us with.

He emphasised on the need to continue to be tolerant, selfless and be each other’s keeper.

Eid-ul-Adha often referred to as the Feast of Sacrifice, is one of the two important religious holidays celebrated by Muslims worldwide.

It’s a day set aside to commemorate the willingness of Ibrahim to follow Allah’s command to sacrifice his son Ismail.

The festival is usually opened with special prayers before the slaughtering of goats, sheep or cows, among others.

The date for Eid-ul-Adha may vary between countries, as it is based on lunar sightings.
