Professor Baffour Agyeman-Duah, who previously served as a senior governance advisor to the United Nations, has voiced his support for President John Mahama’s decision to replace Dr. George Akuffo Dampare as Inspector General of Police (IGP).

Speaking in an interview, Prof. Agyeman-Duah remarked that such changes are a normal aspect of leadership transitions.

“I find nothing wrong with the president changing the police IGP, and even the CDS if he decides to do so – it happens,” Prof. Agyeman-Duah noted.

He pointed out that it is typical for newly elected presidents to select key officials who share their vision and leadership approach.

“Any president coming into power will naturally want top officers who align with his vision of leadership. You cannot dispute that,” he added in an interview monitored by The Ghana Report on Joy News.

Citing international examples, Prof. Agyeman-Duah noted that similar changes are commonplace in various countries.

“Look at what has happened in the US and other countries,” he said, emphasizing that leadership transitions in crucial roles are a global norm.

Prof. Agyeman-Duah remark follows the replacement of Dr George Akuffo Dampare, as Ghana’s IGP despite his professionalism and esteemed leadership style.
