President John Dramani Mahama has disclosed that he will release the final batch of his ministerial appointments before the end of this week.
The final batch will consist of four nominees, adding up to the already 56 ministers he has appointed, making 60.
It will be recalled that before the 2024 election, Mahama promised to create a lean government by working with only 60 ministers if he is elected as the President.
This move aims at reducing government expenditure and redirecting funds towards the country’s development, ensuring the benefits reach all Ghanaians.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of some deputy ministers on March 12, 2025, the President emphasised that he is committed to maintaining his promise.
“This week, I will submit the final list of four deputy ministers to achieve the full complement of sixty ministers that we promised,” he noted.
The president also expressed profound gratitude to the legislative arm of government for swiftly approving all his nominees.
“We have achieved the earliest approval of ministers by Parliament under the Fourth Republic, enabling them to begin work on rolling out our commitments to Ghana. I wish to thank Mr. Speaker and the honourable members of Parliament for their support,” he added.
