Majeed Waris named player of the month in France

French Ligue 1 side, Strasbourg have named a Ghanaian international, Abdul Majeed Waris, as their Player of the Month for February.

The club adjudged the Ghanaian attacker the best player of his team for the previous month because of his exploit for Strasbourg in the French Ligue 1.

Two goals in back-to-back games against Toulouse and Stade de Reims and five assists in February was enough for Waris to clinch his first Strasbourg Player of the Month award.

Strasbourg is Waris’ fourth French club after earlier spells with Nantes, Valenciennes and Lorient.

The former FC Nantes and Porto player has been an integral part of the Strasburg side since joining in January.

The award, announced on Monday, is a boost for the 28-year-old, who joined the club on loan from FC Porto during the January transfer window.
