Peter Kwamena Essilfie Kwamina Bartels, a former Member of Parliament for Ablekuma North, has urged the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to ensure that all proposals under consideration at its ongoing National Delegates Conference are grounded in practicality and aimed at promoting unity within the party.

Mr. Bartels acknowledged the solid concepts behind many of the proposals, but highlighted that their significance will only be realised if they are effectively implemented.

“The thought behind the proposals is good. The only thing that we need to do is to ensure their practicality and also ensure that they achieve the purpose for which they were brought, particularly to bring unity to the party and make us the winning team, because it is all about power,” he stated.

Mr. Bartels’ remarks come as the NPP convenes its highly anticipated National Delegates Conference at the University of Ghana Stadium in Accra.

The gathering has attracted over 5,500 delegates nationwide and is viewed as a crucial moment for the party following its defeat in the 2024 general elections. This year’s conference is themed “Rebuilding Together with our Values”.

Joseph Osei Owusu, Chairman of the Planning Committee, shared that the conference will discuss over 50 consolidated motions, which stem from more than 300 amendment proposals submitted to the party’s Amendments Committee.

Meanwhile, Ofoase Ayirebi MP Kojo Oppong Nkrumah revealed that refining these proposals into actionable motions involved three months of consultations and engagement with various stakeholders.

The conference aims to reposition the NPP by advancing reforms that emphasise unity and internal renewal as the party prepares for future electoral challenges.
