The police have arrested a man in Antoakrom, located in the Manso Nkwanta District of the Ashanti Region, for unlawfully wearing a police uniform without authorisation.
The police in a statement indicated that the suspect, identified as Osei Kwame, popularly known as “Nsafufoo,” was seen in a video appearing intoxicated while clad in a police uniform.
The arrest came after the video circulated on social media, depicting Kwame being confronted by two men who accused him of trying to incite their arrest.
In the video, he could be heard pleading that he isn’t there to arrest anyone, merely expressing a desire for something to smoke.
This incident has raised alarms regarding the misuse of police uniforms and the potential effects on public trust and safety.
The police have yet to disclose how the suspect obtained the uniform, but they assured the public that an investigation is underway.
Kwame is currently in custody and assisting with investigations.
