Man vanishes after suspected robbery attack in Fijai

A quiet community in Fijai near Kasoa has been shaken after a 35-year-old man, Ben Owusu, went missing during what police suspect was an armed robbery attack.

Owusu, who sells POP materials, reportedly sent desperate messages to his landlord and a female friend around 2:50 a.m., begging for help as robbers stormed his apartment.

The messages were only seen later in the morning.

When residents rushed to check on him, they were met with a disturbing scene: bloodstains on the floor, destroyed electronics, but no sign of Owusu himself.

One resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the community is gripped by fear and confusion.

“We just want to know what happened to him. The blood, the broken things, it is terrifying. We hope he is still alive,” the resident shared.

Police say Owusu’s Android phone, used to send the distress messages, is missing. However, two other phones and a laptop found at the scene had been smashed.

The Kasoa Divisional Police, along with the Central East Regional Command, has launched an investigation and search operation.

Officers say it is too early to confirm whether Owusu was kidnapped or killed, but they are exploring all possible angles in what is now a high-priority case.

As the search continues, residents are left hoping for answers and for Ben’s safe return.
