A Mercedes Benz A140 was completely destroyed by fire at Ahodwo Roundabout in Kumasi during Friday morning’s rush hour.
The incident occurred at a busy road intersection, causing concern among commuters.
Attobra Kyeremateng, the owner and driver of the vehicle, was the sole occupant at the time.
Speaking to the media, he recounted that the fire started just 30 minutes after he left home.
He was alerted to sparks beneath the vehicle and immediately pulled over in an attempt to extinguish the flames.
However, the engine soon caught fire.
“I noticed some smoke while driving. I stopped to check, and it seemed to subside. But five minutes after resuming my journey, the smoke reappeared. I used my fire extinguisher to control it, but it was too late,” he explained.
Firefighters arrived promptly to douse the flames, but the vehicle was completely gutted.
The car was third-party insured.
“We should always give thanks to God. I am grateful for my safety,” Mr. Kyeremateng expressed.
