Charterhouse, the brain behind the annual Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs), has provided the opportunity for burgeoning musicians to contest in the 24th VGMA scheduled for May 13th at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre.
The new artists have been nominated for the Unsung category.
The winner of the Unsung category according to the award organizers will be given the opportunity to perform live at the event for the whole world to see his or her talent.
The organizers released the Unsung nominees’ list on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, and six budding artists sailed through.
The budding artists for the first-ever Unsung category for the 24th VGMA are Tsaqa, Niashun, Maya Blu, Aya Ramzyb, DSL, and Boijake.
- Niashun
Nana Kwame Nkrumah known in the entertainment industry as Niashun is a signee with Waveyard Entertainment.
Niashun released his first single ‘OK’ in 2022 and since that year he has strived hard to be relevant in the music industry.
He has released other two songs which are Daama and Sisi Yellow.
His passion for music made him nominated for the Unsung category for the 24th edition of the VGMA.
- Aya RamzyB
Another nominee for the Unsung category at this year’s VGMA is Aya RamzyB.
Bismark Amoako, better known in the entertainment industry as Aya RamzyB was crowned the Artist of the Year at the Western Music Awards sponsored by 610Music in 2022.
He released his first song in 2020.
He has composed songs like Wossop, Backfire, and Boys P3 Choo.
Although he is a budding artiste, he has been performing at shows to thrill fans.
- DSL
Lawrence Senyo Adiase with the stage name DSL is one of the nominees for the Unsung category.
He was the winner of TV3’s Mentor season ten (X).
After bagging the honor in 2021, he has worked hard to be relevant in the Ghana Music Industry.
He has currently come out with his own songs such as Chow, Weekend, High, and New Lords.
- TsaQa
Ebenezer Chaka known as TsaQa is one of the rising music stars in Ghana.
He feels music is one of the easiest ways to tell a beautiful story to the world.
He setS a record as a budding artiste when he was nominated for the Ghana Music Awards Europe in the category of New Artiste of the Year for its 2023 edition.
At this year’s VGMA also, TsaQa has been nominated for the Unsung category aimed to celebrate new artists.
He has songs like ‘Onaapo’, ‘Accra Funfooler’, ‘One Man Thousand’ and ‘Nana Aboagye’.
- Boijake
Joshua Kwaku Acquah with the stage name Boijake is a signee of Lynx Entertainment.
He gained fame in the music industry in 2022 and since then, he has been working tediously to be relevant in the entertainment industry.
He has songs like Kill A Man, Always, and Street Anthem.
- Maya Blu
Maya Blu is the only female budding artiste nominated for the Unsung category for the 24th VGMA.
She is competing with five solid young male artists.
Maya Blu since her appearance in 2025 has been releasing songs consistently to be relevant in the music industry.
She is often billed to perform at shows as well.
She has her personal songs like Good Girl No Dey Pay, Good Man, Legacy, Promise, High Heels, My Ebony, For You, Get Away, and Slow Dance.
She is the only Unsung nominee with many songs to her credit.
