‘Most Ghanaian artistes don`t want to pay for better sound quality’ – Ephraim

Ghanaian producer cum songwriter and CEO of Ephraim music Ephraim Beats has disagreed that Nigerians have better sound quality than Ghanaians.

According to him, 90 per cent of Nigerian songs’ sound quality is not of standard compared to the Ghanaian songs.

During an interview on Zylofon FM, he said “Ghanaians have better sound quality than Nigerians. Most Nigerian songs are very bad! 90 per cent of Nigerian songs doesn’t have better sound quality. Look, if Don Jazzy could call Kaywa to come and mix and master for him, it tells you that Ghanaians have better sound quality. Even if the Ghanaian songs are not good, they are better than Nigerians”.

According to him, most producers try to do the mixing and mastering of songs themselves which is not supposed to be.

Ephraim revealed that even though he is a sound engineer, he sometimes hands over his songs to colleague sound engineers to work on them.

“You see bra Sammy! The problem is that some producers think if you are a producer, you can mix and master a song. I’m a sound engineer myself but sometimes I hand over my songs to colleague engineers to work on them. I think if I’m to do it myself, I will want to add more things in it which might spoil the song” he said.

He again disclosed to Sammy Flex that he spends about two weeks before mixing and mastering a song to his satisfaction.

“Mixing is not a one day job. I spend about 2 weeks before mixing and mastering a song to my satisfaction. Most Ghanaian artistes don’t get better sound quality because they don’t want to pay. Some are willing to pay but they don’t have” he added.

Talking about his hit single “break my heart” which featured rapper Teephlow, he noted that the song was recorded based on a true story.

According to him, he was heartbroken when he wrote the song. In addition to this, he revealed that rapper Teephlow was also heartbroken as at the time he contacted him to feature him on the song.

“My heartbreak song was based on a true story. I was heartbroken when I wrote the song and Teephlow too was also heartbroken when I contacted him to feature me” he revealed.
