The Minister of Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has axed Kwadwo Gyamfi Osafo-Maafo as Director of Cyber Security at the National Communications Authority (NCA).

This comes a few days after his brother Kofi Bosompem Osafo-Maafo was also sacked as Director-General of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT).

Both of them are sons of NPP stalwart Yaw Osafo-Maafo, who served as the senior presidential advisor to the erstwhile Akufo-Addo administration.

In an official letter signed by Chief Director Alexander Yaw Arphul dated February 14, Mr Osafo-Maafo has been instructed to hand over to the acting Director General of the NCA.

The letter conveyed the appreciation of the minister for Mr Osafo-Maafo’s role at the country’s regulatory agency.

“I wish to inform you that the Minister of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations has terminated your appointment as the Director of Cyber Security of the National Communications Authority effective immediately.

“You are directed to hand over your duties to the Ag Director General of the National Communications Authority. In line with paragraph 8 of your appointment letter, you will be given three months’ salary in lieu of notice. The honourable Minister extends his gratitude for your service to the nation,” the letter said.

A new director of cyber security at the National Communications Authority (NCA) is yet to be named.
