NDC Primaries: Nana Oye Lithur loses to Adamu Ramadan in Adentan constituency
A former Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Nana Oye Lithur, has lost in her bid to represent the Adentan constituency on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2020 elections.
She lost to Mohamed Adamu Ramadan, who represented the NDC in the 2016 elections.
Mohammed Ramadan won by 730 votes as against Nana Oye Lithur’s 559 votes.
Prior to the contest, TGR RADAR predicted defeat for Nana Oye Lithur, based on intelligence picked on the ground. Interviews with a number of party supporters in the constituency suggested the rather popular gender activist was out of touch with a number of grassroots supporters.
Though a rejoinder by her campaign team sought to dispute the prediction by TGR, delegates on Saturday affirmed the claim by The Ghana Report as they reposed confidence once more in Mohammed Adamu Ramadan who narrowly lost to Yaw Buaben Asamoah in the 2016 elections.
Adamu Ramadan belongs to a politically astute family in Ghana.
He is son to the PNC’s Alhaji Ramadan; and elder brother to Second Lady, Samira Bawumia as well as Deputy NADMO boss, Abu Ramadan.
