Nii Moi Thompson returns as Chairman of NDPC

Dr. Nii Moi Thompson has been appointed as the Chairman of the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC), pending consultations with the Council of State.

Dr. Thompson is a development economist who previously served as the Director-General of the Commission, where he played a key role in preparing Ghana’s 40-year Development Plan.

Between 2014 and 2015, he led Ghana’s technical delegations to the United Nations in the formulation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and later guided their integration into the country’s national development agenda.

As Chairman of the NDPC, Dr. Thompson will work closely with key government officials, including the Minister for Finance, the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, the Government Statistician, and other presidential appointees. He will also coordinate with representatives from Ghana’s 16 regions to provide strategic advice to the president and parliament on national development.

In a related appointment, President John Dramani Mahama has named Mr. Albert Kwadwo Twum Boafo as the acting Chief Executive Officer of the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC), pending the reconstitution of the Board.

Mr. Twum Boafo is a Civil Engineer and Finance expert who previously served as the Chief Executive of the Ghana Free Zones Authority from 2009 to 2017.

He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Materials Engineering from the University of Wales, an MSc in Civil Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York, and an MBA in Finance and Investment Analysis from Stetson University in Florida, USA.
