NPP presidential primary: Ad Hoc Committee begins operations

The National Council of Elders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced that its Ad Hoc Committee, which was formed to supervise the execution of the party’s presidential campaigns, has officially begun its operations.

In a press release dated Thursday, October 9, the Council urged all prospective presidential candidates, their campaign teams, and party supporters to fully engage with the Committee and uphold the values of respect, discipline, and issue-focused campaigning.

The Committee, led by Ing. Dr. Kwasi Abeasi, is responsible for overseeing the public actions, statements, and interactions of presidential aspirants and their teams.

Its objective is to preserve internal peace and unity in anticipation of the NPP’s presidential primaries set for January 31, 2026.

“All members of the Party, supporters, and the general public are encouraged that if they come across any utterance, conduct, or social media post, by any candidate, spokesperson, or campaign team member that is deemed offensive, divisive, or capable of inciting disunity within the Party, they should promptly refer the matter to the Committee,” excerpts of the statement said.

The Council emphasised that the unity and cohesion of the NPP are of paramount importance, not only during the primaries but also in the lead-up to the 2028 general elections.

“All aspirants and their teams are advised to be mindful of their statements and actions during the campaign period,” the Council warned.

“Let us all work together in the spirit of discipline, respect, and solidarity to ensure a peaceful and united NPP ready for victory in 2028”.
