The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has issued a directive prohibiting members and aspiring candidates from participating in any internal campaigning or seeking support for party positions until the official nomination period commences.

In a statement released by the Party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, on Wednesday, May 14, the NPP highlighted that this decision aims to maintain fairness and integrity within its internal electoral processes.

The statement indicated that any early interactions with party executives or structures could undermine the authority of the party’s governing bodies and potentially disrupt ongoing strategic initiatives designed to prepare the party for victory in the 2028 general elections.

“We therefore urge all members, supporters, and stakeholders to fully cooperate with this directive and refrain from any activities that could compromise party unity or the integrity of our processes,” the statement read.

The party assured its members of a transparent, inclusive, and fair nomination process, promising to provide timely updates once the nomination period officially opens.

Furthermore, the statement encouraged ongoing support for the leadership’s internal reforms, aimed at fostering a stronger and more united party.

“The Party remains committed to transparency, inclusiveness, fairness and due process, and it will provide timely updates on all relevant timelines and guidelines when nominations are officially opened,” the statement concluded.
