NSA Reclaims Tamale’s Kaladan Park After Legal Battle
In a major victory for the National Sports Authority (NSA), the historic Kaladan Park in Tamale has officially been returned to its control after a lengthy legal dispute.
The park, which holds deep sentimental value to football fans, was once the home ground of Real Tamale United and a venue for many legendary matches.
This move comes shortly after Yaw Ampofo Ankrah was appointed as the new NSA Director General. Despite being only six weeks into his tenure, Ankrah has been clear about his vision to overhaul sports administration in Ghana.
His leadership aims to bring about a comprehensive “RESET,” involving strategic planning and focused determination to improve sports facilities across the country.
During a recent visit to Tamale, Ankrah engaged with staff at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium, where he assessed both the challenges and the opportunities facing the region.
Among the highlights of his trip was the successful reclamation of Kaladan Park, which had been embroiled in a legal battle for years.
NSA Chief Director Alhaji Abubakar Mahamoud confirmed the outcome of the legal proceedings, noting that not only was Kaladan Park returned, but the surrounding land, which had previously been encroached upon, is also being secured.
With proper documentation now in progress, the NSA is in a strong position to attract investors and kick-start development projects in the area.
This success marks a key step in the NSA’s broader mission to improve sports infrastructure and administration nationwide, setting the stage for a bright future for Ghanaian sports.
