The National Service Authority (NSA) has begun negotiations with the Military High Command regarding the National Service Emergency Response Readiness Programme (NSERRP), a new initiative designed to provide National Service Personnel (NSPs) with basic military training.

This initiative is in line with President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to promoting discipline, a sense of nationalism, and physical fitness among Ghana’s graduates.

During a meeting with the Military High Command on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, NSA Director-General Felix Gyamfi highlighted the significance of the training programme in nurturing a resilient and patriotic youth.

“The introduction of this military training is a step in the right direction and must be embraced by all and sundry as one of the indicators for resetting the country, particularly the youth,” he said.

Gyamfi further emphasised that all national service personnel will undergo basic military drills and orientation as a vital part of their service, aimed at cultivating a spirit of national development.

Brigadier General Amoah-Boakye, representing the Military High Command, expressed the Ghana Armed Forces’ commitment to supporting the programme.

He assured the NSA of their preparedness to provide the necessary training once the initiative is officially underway.

Participants in the programme will complete up to two months of comprehensive basic military training, with training set to begin on August 3, 2025.
