A bloody chieftaincy dispute between Asemko and Butre in the Ahanta West Municipality has erupted into deadly violence, leaving one man beheaded and most of Asemko in ruins after nearly 80 percent of its homes were torched.
The violence erupted from a long-standing dispute over traditional leadership, which reignited when Asemko residents attempted to install their own chief.
What began as a local disagreement quickly spiraled into bloody confrontation, unleashing destruction and fear across the area.

Today, Asemko stands almost deserted.
Terrified residents have fled to neighboring towns for safety, schools remain closed, and daily life has ground to a halt.
Local authorities and security forces are struggling to restore calm as investigations into the deadly clashes continue.
